Great projects begin with thoughtful decisions.

Caso Harley-Davidson

The Harley-Davidson store at Escazú Village was conceived as a comprehensive brand space, featuring a retail store and showroom on the main level, with a specialized motorcycle service workshop located in the basement. In this project, S3 Ingenieros was responsible for the electromechanical design, developing technical solutions that ensure safe operation, workshop functionality, and a customer experience aligned with the standards of a globally iconic brand.

Distinct technical demands within a single commercial space

The project presented clear electromechanical challenges:

  • Coexistence of uses: a public-facing retail showroom and a specialized mechanical workshop within the same building.

  • Specific requirements for the basement workshop, including ventilation, exhaust systems, heat management, electrical loads, and safety.

  • The need to comply with strict regulations within an active shopping center.

  • Integration of systems without affecting brand experience, showroom aesthetics, or mall operations.

A generic design approach was not viable for a space with such technical and brand-driven requirements.

From a standard approach to an electromechanical design differentiated by use

S3 approached the project by clearly separating the needs of each area:

  • Tailored design for customer-facing display and service areas within the showroom.

  • Robust technical solutions for the service workshop, considering its basement location.

  • Careful coordination with architecture, interior design, and shopping center management.

This approach made it possible to meet technical requirements without compromising operations or brand identity.

Specialized electromechanical design for retail and service operations

S3’s scope included:

Electrical Design

  • Electrical distribution for the showroom, sales areas, and back-of-house spaces.

  • Load calculation and circuit sizing for workshop equipment.

  • Technical and decorative lighting aligned with the brand experience.

Mechanical Design

  • Ventilation and exhaust systems for the basement workshop.

  • Appropriate HVAC solutions for both public and private areas.

  • Design criteria focused on safety, comfort, and continuous operation.

Technical Coordination

  • Integration of the electromechanical design with the shopping center’s infrastructure.

  • Clear technical documentation for construction, operation, and maintenance.

The Result:

The Harley-Davidson store at Escazú Village now operates as a functional, safe, and brand-aligned space—combining a high-end retail experience with a fully operational technical workshop. S3 Ingenieros’ work successfully addressed the project’s electromechanical complexity through well-dimensioned, efficient solutions, ensuring reliable operation from day one.
